Alabama tied with Texas for third place among the states with the top business climates, according to a new ranking from Site Selection magazine.
North Carolina and Tennessee ranked first and second, respectively, and Indiana took the fifth spot. Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Illinois and Georgia
rounded out the Top 10.
The economic development publication's annual business climate rankings are determined by considering the state's performance in Conway Data's
"New Plant Database," which tracks new and expanded business facility activity and a survey of corporate site seekers across the country.
Site selectors also ranked the most important factors when determining a location for a new facility. The three leading factors were ease
of permitting and regulatory procedures, transportation infrastructure and existing work-force skills.
The rankings are published in the magazine's November issue.
