We are proud that for over three generations our family has been actively involved in the growth and development of Huntsville and Madison County.  Our company’s experience in commercial real estate investment, development, brokerage and management spans over 75 years of combined real estate experience.  In the last four years alone, John Blue Realty has handled over four hundred thousand square feet of office, retail and industrial inventory, with the acquisition of over three hundred thousand square feet of office buildings and one hundred thousand square feet of retail. Mr. Blue graduated from the University of Alabama in 1972 with a B.S. in Industrial Management from the School of Commerce and Business Administration.  He has held a RM designation and was a candidate for the MAI and SRA designation in Real Estate Appraising.  From 1970 until 1996, John was a principal and director of G.W. Jones & Sons, Inc., a family owned regional engineering, appraisal, and development firm founded in 1886; and, a firm that played a leading role in the transition of Huntsville from a small cotton mill town to a thriving internationally renowned aerospace and industrial center.


John was involved in the design of Huntsville International Airport while at G.W. Jones & Sons, Inc.  He was active in the development of many apartment complexes, office parks, and residential subdivisions.  During his tenure, he was directly involved with the success of  G.W. Jones & Sons in the planning, development and financing of over $50 million of retail, office and residential development.  He was also visionary and founder of one of the southeast’s most prestigious private gated communities and country club developments; namely, ‘The Ledges”.  In 1996, he founded Chase Commercial Realty with two other principals and developed the firm until 2000, when he left to establish John Blue Realty, LLC with his son.  John has served in a number of leadership roles in professional and community organizations throughout his career.  He is married to the former Carolyn Jones of Huntsville and has two children.

Mr. Blue is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Finance from the School of Commerce and Business Administration.  He is a licensed real estate professional in the State of Alabama.  John oversees project management and financing in the Company’s real estate development activities.  He is also an associate leasing agent for the Company’s retail and office divisions, and manages development databases, brochure and financial package layouts, financial modeling and coordination of development marketing.  Mr. Blue is experienced with most all real estate management and investment software, and attends upgrade seminars and workshops to remain up to date of the latest technology.

Dr. Thomason is a graduate of Virginia Tech University and received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from University of Alabama.  He was formally a member of the engineering team at Marshall Space Flight Center.  He held several positions responsible for management of the systems design and engineering and project management of the many projects assigned to the Marshall Center.  He also has vast knowledge and experience in developing both commercial and residential properties in Huntsville and Madison County for over thirty years.  This experience has made him a vital asset to the John Blue team.  He was primarily responsible in overseeing the sales and management of The Ledges of Huntsville, a $50 million 3-Phase real estate development and a private gated community located in southeast Huntsville atop Huntsville Mountain; namely, “The Ledges”.

Mr. Farquhar has been associated with the founding team members since 1995 and is a valuable contributor to the company’s growth.  His talent and focus has been in the development of ongoing executive relationships throughout Huntsville’s vast corporate network.  These personal and business relationships, along with his natural ability to network, have created loyal clients in both build-to-suit development projects and a continuous stream of “Class A” tenants for our managed properties and acquisitions.

Mr. Looser joined the company in July of 2003 with more than 16 years of commercial real estate sales and leasing experience.  His primary focus is managing ongoing development of the company’s retail and office business client base through leasing, sales, and build-to-suits.  He has managed over one million square feet of retail and office space in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.  His real estate profession allows him the opportunity to attend various ICSC conventions and meetings throughout the country.  Mr. Looser is working toward his CCIM, with his first course complete.  He continues to keep abreast of the commercial real estate market with his involvement in NALCOM, a North Alabama commercial real estate broker association.

Tamara joined John Blue Realty in 2007, with extensive experience in corporate procurement and facility management gained at large manufacturing firms in California and Chicago, Illinois.  After moving to Huntsville, Alabama, she worked as National Sales Manager for a multi-national electronics firm for 6 years.  She acquired her Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) designation in 1996 and her State of Alabama Real Estate Associate License in 2008. 

Along with sales and leasing,  Tamara is responsible for our property management operations, including new tenant and tenant relations, property inspections,suppliers,overseeing maintenance and improvement projects.  Properties under management include office buildings, warehouse facilities, and retail properties.

Karen joined the company in February, 2005, to coordinate, organize, and manage the day-to-day operations of the office.  She is from the Birmingham area and moved to Huntsville with her family in 1999, after working 11 years for one of ENR’s Top 25 ranked general contractors among the nation's "Top 400 Contractors" in various positions; most recently as executive assistant for the C.E.O. and President.  With over 25 years of administrative experience, she is versatile and efficient in the ongoing day-to-day operations of the company.  She is well-rounded in the application of office procedures, as she has an extensive background in administration.  Karen has completed and passed the NSRE real estate course and will soon test for her Alabama Real Estate License.

Mr. Blue graduated from Auburn University in 1972 with a B.S. in Building Science.  He served as a Combat Engineering Officer in the United States Marine Corps Reserves for 28 years and retired in December 1999 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  Mr. Blue retired from The Boeing Company in 2006 having been with the company for 28 years.  While at Boeing, Mr. Blue served in various capacities in management and as a Systems Analyst.  A good deal of his time was spent in areas related to construction management and facilities engineering.  In 1996, Mr. Blue and his brother, John, formed The Blues Brother Construction, LLC, initially doing commercial building upgrades and tenant improvements.  Mr. Blue has primarily been building custom homes in the Huntsville area since August, 2003, and still does some light commercial construction.
